Burns injuries require rapid and efficient response, using the “20 minutes under running water to save your skin” rule.

Always follow the "3x20" rule:

1. Run tepid water at 20 ° C

2. for 20 minutes

3. at a distance of 20 cm between the tap (or showerhead) and the burn.

Never put anything else on the skin.
No oil, butter, toothpaste, tomato, yoghurt. Do not apply burns cream directly... Only water, and nothing but water !

Next, always seek medical assistance, and if it is serious, call the emergency services on “112” in Belgium.

The only case in which water should not be used, is for an electric burn, when the victim is still in contact or near the electricity supply.
