The psychologists and social assistant know the families and the patients, as well as their social situation. If one of the parents or a next of kin cannot stay with the child, telephone calls are placed to find out volunteers who accept to stay overday or overnight to meet the needs.
A child often needs to be accompanied several days in a week, during several weeks. Volunteers are then especially required. On the other hand, it may also happen that for weeks no child needs to be accompanied.
As to adults with burns, they sometimes wish to get some visit, especially if they are alone or far away from friends. The friendly presence of volunteers will comfort them, but will always have to be asked for by the psycho-social team.
